Since "blog" is short for "web-log" and a weblog is an on-line journal, I thought that today it would be fun for my readers to see a diary entry--much more secretive and private than a journal. Who can resist a peek at a "diary?" Here goes. . .
Dear Diary,
I received great encouragement from friends in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, New York and even the Phillipines! Patti and Melissa were able to post their comments right in this blog and I will treasure them forever. But I also want to record the emails I received. I have such great friends!
"Brava! How many years ago did I suggest that you write? Good for you, woman! -Toni
"What fun! Maybe dinosaur's mother will jump on the blogwagon." -Mom
"How exciting! I will certainly be in prayer with you over it, and if you want any comments or proofreaders, I would be happy to get a first glimpse!" -Sue (How cool is that? A Proofer! Sue, you don't know what you're in for! Sentences call me "the butcher." I can really slaughter them! :) I hope you'll still let me take you up on that offer? -fbh)
"I peeked at your blog. You are such a talented writer! I'm so thrilled for you it brings tears to my eyes. You have been and will continue to be ever present in my thoughts and prayers."
-Jane
"Zowie! PTL! Pleased to see you're putting all that talent to work--getting it directed toward something eternally valuable. And that is not to suggest that you haven't been doing so. So if you'll allow, here's some advice from what I've been privileged to learn. . .
Blog away. Doing makes you think more than just thinking.
Filter input, comments and responses through scripture.
Beware the enemy.
Don't depend on the talents given you and your ability to use them. Rather trust that God will work through the talents He has already allotted. You have all the raw material needed. Watch for where it might be be applied more than what, where, or how you think you would like to apply it.
Trust that you will be tested (and tempted) as answers are revealed. -Brother Bob (prison ministry in the Phillipines)
"Wow--what an impressive blog and the requests for book proposals arent' too shabby either. You are in the middle of a wonderful trying time. Whatever happens, you will be better on the other side. I think we all struggle with confidence. Too much and we aren't very useful to God, and too little and we arent' very useful to anyone unless we let God be our confidence. And it sounds like that is where you are. Of course, I will pray for you and your mountain.
Some verses that you might connect with:
II Cor. 2: 4,5 "Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves but our competence comes from God."
-Susan
Thanks everyone! Instead of copying every single note, I listed the ones that represented what most everyone wrote, but I appreciated hearing from everyone.
Please pray for me this week as I prepare to speak at Riverview Church on Saturday morning. I'm looking forward to it, and am very excited to see all my old friends. I'll be referring to the book "Lies Women Believe" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss, mostly covering the first chapter and introducing the start of their 2nd Saturday series. I'll focus on it with the title, "Got Any Struggles?" The main points are 1. The Root of our Struggles 2. The Character of the Enemy
3. The Truth will set you free!
It seems the entire summer has been preparation for this, so I have plenty of personal illustrations for struggles! Pray that I don't have any more by the end of this week!
In writing, please pray that I will use my time wisely and be self-disciplined!
