Fun Game!

My mom saves everything and when I was up there I found a precious piece of paper. It was precious because it was hand-written by Bruce! What a delightful find! But, no, it wasn't an old love letter or message from the "beyond." It was directions to a game we loved playing called "Dictionary." Since then, it's been packaged for sale as "Balderdash." I've heard it's basically the same, so why pay money for something you can make up on your own? All you need is a dictionary, 4 or more players, (The more good liars the merrier!) and pencils and paper.  Rather than me try to explain it all, just go to either of these sites for directions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fictionary   OR  http://library.thinkquest.org/J001156/games/sl_dictionary.htm One benefit of the game is that you find out who is the best liar in your house. I confess, I was pretty good. But I do try to limit my skills to the confines of the game. :) You'll also hav...

That Was Then, This Is Now

Last Sunday I was in Wisconsin to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. (That's her and dad in the picture on the left). I truly had a great visit, and I think they'd agree. I just hope they didn't catch my cold! I'm still dealing with it, hacking cough, congestion and all that goo. On the right are a few of the great women in my family! Margo the Magnificent, (me), Tammy the Terrific, Mom the Wonder Woman and Auntie Jo the Energizer! This was last Sunday at Auntie Jo's where we had dinner and birthday cake. Would you believe my brother Steve grilled chicken for us all? He's a pretty good cook! I headed back to Ohio last Monday and spent the night at my cousin, Gwen's, in Illinois. I was ragged from this cold, but Gwen took good care of me and tucked me in early. I took two doses of Nyquil and slept until 10 the next morning. The best part, though, was in my jammies, talking to Gwen, just like when were kids and spent weeks together in the summertime. B...

Will He See His Shadow or Not?

Don't forget Groundhog Day! This little fella reminds me of the one that grazed in our backyard at Riverview. We named him "Piggy." He had relatives building condos in a gully between the church and the park. They got checks from the Weather Channel every February. Piggy, however, enjoyed his place in our yard much better. Where else could he stand up and stare like this as our locked-indoors yellow labrador, Max, frantically spazzed out jumping and drooling and barking at him? It was better than watching cable tv with the groundhogs in the gully! Well, Piggy eventually got nailed by our dog, Max; and then one day Max got nailed by a truck when he spotted another groundhog across the highway. I hear the truck driver still gets pay outs from the condo groundhogs . . .  Hey! Be sure to vote in my name poll today (top right column), and then scroll to the bottom of that column for "The Daily Puppy." You'll also enjoy a blog I just added to my "Link...
