PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE SMITHS

HANNAH (age 11) Hannah hasn't had any food or drink since the accident. Imagine how life-altering this is for an active and petite 11-year-old with a very healthy thirst! Sat. May 5 was a very difficult day because she was soooo thirsty---and very scary because she ruptured something and lost a lot of blood. She was given 3 pints of blood, closely monitored, and was a candidate for exploratory surgery. But, PTL, surgery wasn't necessary since the blood levels began to stabilize. As stated previously, her tummy area is like a jigsaw puzzle with all sorts of tubes coming in and out of it. I hadn't realized it, but this is because they are not letting anything touch her intestines, trying to let them heal.
The good news is that she is now allowed an ice chip every half hour, and she also had a Popsicle.
She also has been allowed to start walking a bit.

RUTH (mother) Had her broken ankle set this week. She's in a wheelchair and now has both a foot and an arm (wrist) in a cast.

DON (dad) It was discovered by x-ray this week that what was thought to be a severely sprained ankle is really a broken or chipped heel. He, too, is in a wheelchair with both a foot and an arm (hand) in a cast.

Both Ruth and Don are still in Rockford with Hannah. Isaac and Zoie are in MN with their grandma Smith. Neither Ruth or Don are able to drive the 5 hours back to their home in MN, nor are they much able to take care of themselves, let alone Hannah or the other kids.

Please also pray for Don's job situation. He's a computer software technician.

Pray for the people who are taking time from their own businesses and families to help. Pray for additional people to be available.

Pray for the doctors and medical staff. Hannah's desire is that one doctor in particular, who was negative that she would survive, will be amazed at how well she is doing. I believe this is a biblical desire of hers. Someday every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. So let's pray that what this doctor sees in Hannah will bring him to his knees in this life.

The Lord is good ... His mercies endure forever and His truth endures unto all generations ...

Margo said: Wow...oh, what to say...i will definately keep praying. What a wonderful work you are doing keeping us all updated on the Smith's so that we can all pray. This is so depressing but clearly a miracle that they have all survived, on the slow road to recovery and that Hannah is gaining strength. I will be mostly focused on praying for her.

Yes, Feree, as I read, all one can do is "CRY OUT!!!" to our Heavenly Father for His Healing, His LOVE,
His Mercy to be POURED out over the Smith family. How the Smith's could be a testimony of God's love and goodness WHILE going through a trial such as this is indeed a miracle in itself.
Bless little Hannah for her love and concern for this doctor who was most negative...and in ALL of
THIS mind-boggling, scary situation
MAY GOD GET GLORY through the lives
of the SMITH FAMILY.

One last thought....in times such as this, in grappling to gain some perspective of WHY God would allow a situation like this, I go to the extreme situation where INDEED, GOD did GET GLORY from very difficult and sorrowful situation. I'm thinking of the horrific
murder of the 5 missionaries in
QUITO, Ecuador....Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, and 3 others whose names I'm sorry I don't recall.

As you may be familiar with the story, these men and their young families were missionaries to an unreached savage tribal people. (The Alcas, I believe)
Yet in the midst of their mission
to love and reach these savages for Christ, the LORD in His ETERNAL
perspective allowed them be slain,
leaving grieving wives, children, mothers and fathers.

"The blood of the Martyrs is the seed of the Church."

As you may already know, through the death of these men, AND the RESPONSE of a widow, Elisabeth Elliot, this savage tribe became
BELIEVERS !!! Unbelievable....

We definately see through a glass
darkly, don't we, if we only perceive our present sufferings through the light of our own eyes.

I am praying for this family...and
send the FATHER's LOVE on to them
in great Healing Measure.

With love and prayers,

Robin Michelle
