A Lot to Be Thankful For

There is still a glitch in my blog so it's been hit or miss on posting the last couple weeks. Thanks for your patience.
A lot has happened, tho--a lot to be thankful for.
At the beginning of June my neice, Megan, had her beautiful baby boy and soon found out he had a serious heart defect. At six days old surgeons cut his chest open and installed what was needed. He has since beat all odds, recovery is splendid, and outlook for his future is very good, and very near "normal." The whole family is amazed and grateful to God for His mercy and grace.
Then just a few days ago my cousin, Ben, ended up unconscious in ICU. We're grateful once again that God spared him from serious and complicated injuries. He got knocked out and has a bad black eye, but he could have been run over by a tractor! Like his sister wrote me, guardian angels were on the lookout that day. One minute Ben's driving the tractor, next minute his face is in dirt and the tractor is on it's way. I don't know if anyone will ever figure that one out.
All this makes me think about those times when life changes in an instant: one minute you're in labor, the next you have a new baby and life will never be the same, a little later that baby's having open-heart surgery . . . One minute you're doing farm work on your tractor, the next thing you know you're waking up in an intensive care unit with pipes down your throat and all sorts of hook ups attached to you. . . One minute I remember tomorrow would have been a 30th wedding anniversary for me, but now it's not . . .
I'm reminded that our days are ordered by the Lord. Mercy blooms in the steps we take, each turn we make. I often just run through life with mud still on my shoes, not seeing the blooms. But today is a good day to stop and be thankful for those blooms of mercy and relief God places on my path.
Thanks for checking in on me.

I, too, remembered that it would have been a 30th, but instead you had a 5th just a month ago. Not too many women have had two very wonderful men in their lives. God is so good! And, as you say, we should be so thankful. Thirty years is a long time.... tomorrow I'll attend a funeral in the church where you were married.. a former friend there (you didn't know her) has been left a widow... and life goes on.
