Mother's Day Weekend
Anjee's brother-in-law, Bob, had the same brilliant idea, and he made his way to her place to surprise his mom, Anjee's mother-in-law.
So here's Jaunita, flanked by two of her sons: Anjee's husband, Jim, on the left, and Bob.
We all had a great time, and to see the surprise on their faces was "Priceless!" If we'd taken a picture it would have blown the camera out!
On the way home I had a 5-hour drive. So besides some books on CD, I entertained myself a bit by writing this poem, using some random things along the road:
DRIVING HOME
Bent and broken stop sign
snips a V into the sky
Torn off wing of butterfly
crumples with a sigh
Rain falls on my windshield
but the grass keeps growing green
and the road unrolls before me
stretching long and lean.
When I got home Tom and Aaron had sweet gifts and cards for me, Brooke, Lisa and Brad had contacted me, and my little brick sidewalk was beautifully finished along our driveway. A lovely weekend all around.
WRITING UPDATE: Last week's edit went well and I'm feeling very encouraged about the whole book. My other endeavor is taking shape: I continue to stockpile little postings for a widow's blog. I feel I need to get a six-month supply to know if I've got the endurance for the daily posting I envision. This week my writing day is Thursday. On Friday and over the weekend I plan to celebrate with Brooke and Chris the dedication and opening of the new building for Eagleville Bible Church.
Thanks for checking in on me.
