QUICK UPDATE

48 hours have passed, Hannah is still alive. Prayers for that are being answered.

My sister Anjee saw the Smith's (Don & Ruth's) wrecked vehicle when she was in Rockford yesterday. She says this was a head-on collision with both vehicles going 70 mph. There are now only 6-8 inches between the front seats and the dashboard in Smith's minivan. It's a miracle Don and Ruth are alive. This morning when I said "It couldn't be any worse," a friend told me, "Yes, it could." She was right. These children could have been orphans. Thank God for angels and airbags.

Here's an update from my mom:
1p.m. Thurs. Anjee had taken her 3 kids and driven down to Rockford on Tues. morn. She has returned home and I just talked to her.
Hannah has been taken off the life supports her lungs are weak (Jim, who sat with her all night said she was coughing every 10 minutes). She had numerous other injuries; the tip of her pancreas was crushed; a kidney injured; her small intestine ripped ( they repaired it but wouldn't be surprised for it not to hold); and her shoulder shattered. One doctor told her parents there was not much hope, but another was angered by this .... and expressed a different opinion. Ruth is on another floor and she & Don are aching that they cannot be with her at all times. Anj was able to go in and talk to her: her eyes were open. Later in the day Jim took their two girls in and it made them feel a lot better and even later Hannah asked to see Liz again which encouraged everyone. Hannah is small (11) and petite and they think because of this the seat belt didn't sit right across her stomach and caused all these problems.

Don and Izaac were released from their hospital and are now in the same hospital as Ruth and the girls in something like a MadDonald's House section. But they're both in wheelchairs and depend on friends to get them about. Ruth and Zoie may be released tomorrow and join them. However, they did not work on Ruth's ankle and have postponed that until next week.

They were driving west on I90 and a car driven by a man with high achohol levels and using his cell-phone driving east, crossed over right into them. He was killed and both cars demolished. Please continue to pray. God is at work.

Hi,
I was led to your blog when I read your request for prayers on the Bowman Blog. I also felt an immediate connection because we have a son at Taylor. I am so saddened to read about the accident and am praying today for the family.

Dear Linda, I can't tell you how much it means to know that God led you to pray for this family you've never met. What a comfort to know that strangers care, that God is over us all, and He is mobilizing people to pray. He is kind, loving and faithful, and these small graces and kindnessess confirm His goodness in suffering. Thank you.

I am praying for them constantly. I know the power of prayer with my colon cancer diagnosis last fall. I am constantly reminded of how precious life is. We know that we are His and He is with us each and every moment. God is Great!

I am sitting at an Open House for one of my listings and had some time to catch up on-line while I wait on potential buyers. I was shocked to read the news of this tragic accident. My thoughts and prayers are with Hannah and the entire family affected by this accident. Having had my mother killed by a drunk driver 16 years ago I understand the pain they must be experiencing. I do know God is faithful. I pray for God's peace during this difficult time.
