Pets and Promotion

Heavy sigh, my dear Trixie Belle passed away on Friday. She lived with us for nine months while her family was called up for National Guard duty in El Paso, TX. I will miss her smooshiness--she was like holding a pillow.
She made us laugh at her responses to the various indignities she suffered here with Elmer, Fudd, Tom and Aaron. (Hissing at the boys and then coughing & wheezing to catch her breath). It was nice for me to have another girl--someone who truly understood what I put up
with--in the house!

My only consolation is that she didn't die on me--she was like 160 years old in cat years and I was always afraid I'd have to call her mommy with the bad news. So here's to Trixie, aka Miss Hiss, Miss Cranky Pants and all around wonder cat.

On top of sad kitty cat news here, I watched the movie "Marley & Me." Note to my kids and anyone else who has owned Labrador Retrievers: get a whole box of Kleenex for the ending, or--if you don't want to bawl your eyes out--don't watch it.

WRITING UPDATE: My writing day this week is Friday. I'm not sure at this point what I'll work on for my Ruth book, but I have a few days to stew over it. In the meantime, I got a little promotion at the library--I write for them one hour a week--news releases, brochures, etc. It's a good opportunity for me to apply my skills. Also, it looks like I will be included in their "Speakers Bureau." I'm developing a talk about growing through grief with the three "R's"--Reading, Writing, and Role Models. The speakers bureau is something the library makes available to the community for groups that need a speaker at their meeting, and we highlight library resources.
Thanks for checking in on me--especially my "Followers." Aren't they cute? I was delighted to find them signed up! No idea how they did that, but if you'd like to follow me, too, I'd be honored!

Hi Ferree, I am so sorry to hear about your guest kitty, Trixie! She looked like she had an interesting personality. I feel bad for her owner - away at National Guard duty. My son use to live in ElPaso-Fort Bliss. Anyways, also congrats on your promotion at the library. Your writing talents come in handy!
Your writing friend, Cathy from DCS
