Thanksgiving Countdown

Ten more days to Thanksgiving, let's think of ten things we're thankful for each day.

I'll start it off. Here are ten things I'm thankful for about writing this book, and some of them happened within this last week!
1. I met an amazing widow who's interested in going over the book with me.
2. I met a new writer who works at Cedarville U and I can tell our relationship is going to benefit both of us.
3. I found a shepherd who is really good at poking me about writing.
4. My husband is always supportive and patient with my writing. (He still doesn't understand I'm not writing a best-seller that will make him a millionaire, though!)
5. I worked on chapter 10 last week--it's a tough one. I'd been putting it off since August, but God gave me a wonderful insight that will tie it all together.
6. I gave a little presentation at the Dayton writers group on Thursday night and they really liked it. I should say I meant for it to be little, but they wanted me to keep going, so a good hour and twenty minutes later when the building was being locked up . . . otherwise we could have gone on with the discussion and interaction.
7. God has given me such peace about His leading and timing with this book. People ask if I have a publisher yet, and I can honestly say "It'll happen when it's supposed to."
8. I look back on earlier manuscripts and see how "Unready" (aka AWFUL) they were. "Thank you, Jesus, that they didn't get published!" Now it's far more "ready."
9. I have a much stronger network of people interested in this now.
10. Lord willing, the manuscript will be as done as it needs to be by the end of this year, the widows blog will be up in January, and I will have some speaking opportunities in 2010. It's a real encouragement to be able to see these three things as actual events finally, instead of just dreams. None of them are on the calendar, but barring any natural disasters, they are what's ahead for me. It's a really unusual, solid confidence that doesn't happen very often, but it's here now. I recognize it.

WRITING UPDATE: Tomorrow is my writing day. Tom and I took a 20 mile bike ride yesterday. (We didn't plan to go so far, we were just having too much fun). Since the second day is usually the day one suffers for such foolishness or lack of physical fitness, pray that I'll be able to concentrate without crying "Ouch!" every time I move.

I'd love to hear your Thanksgiving Countdown. Either click on the comment line below and type into the window that opens up, or email your thanks-giving and I'll post it for you.
Thanks for checking in on me.
