More Family Fun + My First Rejection!

Hey everybody!

Great week here in Ohio! Yesterday Tom and I zipped up to Richland and the Jackson Twp Town Hall for a surprise birthday party for Joy, Tom's sister-in-law on Marilyn's side. Her grown kids, Julie and Chris, and husband Tim gave her a whammy of a surprise! Next time no one talks to her for a couple weeks, though, she'll know something's up. The whole family, and the whole church had to keep mum around her the last few weeks trying not to spoil the surprise.

Julie got her to the town hall by blatant lying, which Joy totally fell for. Who wouldn't believe that Pottery Barn was hauling their clearance stuff out to a little town hall next to a cemetary in the middle of Ohio cornfields for the sale of the century? I don't know if I was more surprised that Julie could lie or that Joy was speechless when she walked in the door and everyone yelled "Surprise!" :)

We all had a great time, and it was wonderful to connect with Tom's side and I enjoyed seeing him as "Uncle Tom." I just love Joy and Tim and look forward to the next visit, which hopefully will be able to include Julie's husband and Chris's wife and three kids.

WRITING UPDATE: Hurray! My first rejection! On Thursday I emailed my book proposal to an agent who will be at the Festival of Faith writers seminar next week, and he was kind enough to immediately
reject it! So at least I'm still not chewing my fingernails over it. This week I hope to upload the proposal to a secure site for editors to preview it. Then it will be at their fingertips if I meet any that are interested. I'm also working ahead on Widows Christian Place. It's steadily growing and I'm meeting some beautiful and godly women with amazing stories to tell. Be sure to take a look at it on Wednesday for a feature on suicide, and how God can work His grace in that situation.
Thanks for checking in on me.
