Family Fun!

Wow! Blogger obviously doesn't realize I'm checking out other blog platforms for ease of use and presentation! The copy and pictures are not jiving at all today! So I'll number the paragrahs 1-4, and hope you can understand what picture they're meant to go with. Compare this to my new blog with Wordpress (which has a funny video today, and in all fairness, that's easy to do with Blogger, too) Check out my Squawks here
1. Here's me and my brothers and my parents at my nephew Sam's graduation party. Although this is Sam's big party, his picture is last because I can't waste any more time trying to coax it up here for you to see first and say "oooh and aaaah, my has he grown!" But let's just tell Sam I'm saving the best for last, OK?
I have a sister, too, but she couldn't come. Plus she's tall and beautiful so she would have ruined it for the rest of us.

2. This picture is WGSIL (Worlds Greatest Sister-In-Law) with her sisters. Tammy, shouldn't that be Worlds Greatest & Shortest & Cutest SIL? Then you're the WCSCSIL and Lisa's the WGTCSIL. You'll figure it out haha.
I don't know why Tammy's not in my family picture, but my husband isn't either, so no offense. We love you both to pieces!

3. Don't you love Steve's tee-shirt? It's what he says all the time: "Sure . . . I'll just drop everything and get right on that." He's not sarcastic.

4. And here's the best for last: Congratulations, Hollister! (aka Sam). His brother Caden is holding the cake he personally bought for the occassion. I can't remember what the smart-alec message was, but it sure looks good!
Hey, did you guys have any food left over by the end of the day? Just thinking about it all is making me hungry! Sure was great to see you all!

WRITING UPDATE: I have to cut 100-300 words from chapter 5 now, thanks to all the rewrites and too many ways to approach it, but it's coming along much better. Writing day is Tuesday, so maybe we can move on finally! Thanks for checking in on me!

Outdoor Visitors

Tom was burning some brush at the back of our lot early this evening. I walked back there to talk to him, and lo and behold---a big wild turkey came walking out of the woods on the lot across from us! I thought maybe he smelled the smoke and decided to check it out. And he didn't seem in too much of a hurry, but he picked up the pace when he saw us. A minute later, we saw some more movement where the turkey was, and a coyote peered over at us. He turned around after eyeballing us. I think maybe he was following that meaty looking turkey. I never know what I'll see out here!   And this little thing was inside the screened-in porch today. The green anole made it out alive yesterday, so I guess word is out---Fud isn't a threat! Those are NOT my fingers in the picture.

New Pets

My garden failed in everything except a pot of parsley. Last week I noticed tiny green beads stuck to the parsley leaves, and a few days later some small black caterpillars, and now.... PETS! Yep. Pet caterpillars. Not Monarchs, though. They kind of look like the Monarch butterfly caterpillar, but these are Black Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. Love the parsley. They totally destroyed my plant so I bought them some from the grocery store. I put the stems in a cup of water and it's holding up well enough---at the rate they're going they might eat it all before it wilts anyway! I wish I'd taken their pictures on Wednesday when they were less than 1" long. Now they're a good 2" long. Let me introduce you:   This one is named Parsley. Start up the music for Scarborough Fair.
