Seeing RED!
So I'm at Home Depot spending way too much on potted plants when I see hanging pots of strawberries!
Ten Bucks. Hmm . . . this is either a really good idea or the world's most expensive strawberries.
I found the pot with the most buds on it, brought it home, unhooked the hanger and put it on my picnic table so it'd get the most sun.
drum roll . . . Ta da!
The strawberries are ripening!
The first day I got a total of 3! Then there were 4, 1, 5 to pick! That's a total of 13 sweet strawberries so far at a cost of $.76 each. But I've got the rest of the summer to bring the price down, right? They're everbearing!
I'm also seeing red in my house! Tom heard me saying how starved I was for color in this house of beige and how it was driving me crazy but how I hate painting. That's a no win situation: go crazy or do something I hate? You decide. However, my hero that he is, Tom said he'd paint. AND for our anniversary (which, by the way, you ALL forgot but Tom and I remembered and that's what matters) he got me a gift certificate for paint and some paint chip decorating brochures from the hardware store. I spent a delightful afternoon drooling over colors and picked colors for the WHOLE HOUSE! Ah, yes. Here they are:
WRITING UPDATE: I'm snagged on chapter 5 rewrite. Grrr! Why can't it just come out right? It's too glumpy and fuzzy. Clear thinking and compassionate, straight forward writing are needed.
Thanks for checking in on me.

Sounds very pretty! I enjoyed hearing about your new project(s) and seeing the colors, picturing it in the rooms. And that's alot of strawberries off one potted plant! I DID remember your anniversary but I guess failed to mention it to you both which really doesn't count...congratulations and many happy more!
Unfortunately I found one HUGE rotten one way down in the middle of the pot, overlooked for too long.
The berries are getting pretty puny now. So I cut back all the runners. Either I just destroyed all hope of more buds--but buds with hardly any fruit on them, or I'm encouraging the plant to pour its resources into bigger and better. :)
