Seattle!

I'd heard that only tourists carry an umbrella in Seattle, but since I have no pride, I took one along. Good thing. It POURED the whole time we were there and EVERYONE (except Tom) had an umbrella. This rainbow appeared while we were on the ferry to Bainbridge Island for a fudge fix (they have this chocolate fudge with a layer of caramel in the middle and a few crystals of salt on top---YUM!) The rainbow was complete, full, and so large that my camera could only catch this one end.

This is my daughter Lisa and her finance Bryn Lumsden. I enjoyed getting to know him a little bit, and our time was too short. He's the oldest of three, and went to his parents for Thanksgiving Day since his one brother was away in Alaska. His folks live about 45 minutes north of Seattle. We'll get to meet them in September. :)

This is where Lisa lives, and she roasted the turkey and hosted us all. See Tom in the back? He can't put the Michael Crichton book down that I brought along for him. Then from left to right is Chelsea and Jeff, friends of Brad (middle of the couch) and his girlfriend Stephy (front). Lisa's feeding her face, and I'm behind the camera. Can you find the FOUR dogs that were celebrating with us?

Two of my kids: Brad, Lisa. I just wanna hug 'em!

Brad, me, Tom, Lisa

Stephy and Brad. Cute couple! Isn't Stephy adorable?! She's from Louisiana and she brought all sorts of Southern dishes for our Thanksgiving dinner! (I have to get her recipes!) And she gave me my very first totally Southern cookbook, "The Ozarks Mountaineer Pioneer Cookbook" by Eula Mae Stratton. I'm sending her "Mom's Best Recipes," the cookbook I put together for Gilead Christian School back in 1990 someething.

Lisa and one of her dogs, Bison. Bison secretly wanted to come live with me and be a country dog, but he won't leave Lola. (Lola is in the group picture, on the couch between Jeff and Brad).
The first weekend of November I was crying like a baby. I'd waited too long to buy plane tickets and when I was finally ready the price jumped by hundreds of dollars. Through my blubbering and sniffling I heard Tom say, "Oh, they want to send me to visit a mill in Tacoma." Say what?!!! I said. The major airport in Seattle is listed as SEA-TAC for Seattle-Tacoma. He caught my attention and ended my crying jag. A couple weeks later---conveniently in time to spend Thanksgiving with two of my kids---we were on our way! I hope you enjoyed these few pictures. I'm so thankful we could go!

Love, love, LOVE Seattle! Pouring rain would be just fine with me. I was there for a week many years ago, for some bank training. Drizzled every day, and it was awesome. Your holiday looked wonderful, and your kids are darn good-lookin'! :)
Thanks Kelly! It's a very cool place to visit. I'm already ready to go back. It was nice to discover it's much easier to fly to from SC than it was out of OH.

I can not believe how much Lisa and Brad look the same. It makes me feel old seeing them grown. Brad looks just like Bruce.
Janelle, someone else said Brad looks just like Bruce, too! I, of course, don't see it---well, maybe a little. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, too. And thanks to each of you for commenting. It's so nice to "visit" with you too! :)

Hi Ferree...I hadn't checked your blog in quite awhile, but was so happy to see all the new info. Looks like a beautiful home and area. I am shocked to see Lisa and Brad all grown up. Brad looks so much like Bruce, I had to do a double take. Congratulations to Lisa on her engagement. So good to "see" you again. Beautiful memories and emotions were brought to the surface of my mind. Love, Karen Fish
