Jail, Polygamists, Toilet Paper & Congratulations

Ferree, Are you in jail for not paying your taxes? Because that is the only excuse I will accept for seeing the same entry every day for about a month. Get those fingers tapping on the keyboard! Tammy ***** Dear Tammy, Sorry, I'm not in jail. And as much as I'd prefer to be served meals on a regular basis, I've heard the food there is not worth doing the time. So we paid our taxes. Dearly. I hope Tom did them correctly because I just signed where he told me to. I got home from Seattle around midnight on the 14th, and that's what you do after 3 airplane rides, a sweat producing run through the Minneapolis airport and a 70 mile drive home from Columbus: "Sign here, baby doll," says Tom. "Yes, Thomas," I mumble as I try to remember how to spell "Baby Doll." The title of this post now brings me to the next subject: polygamists. Can I spout off a little here? Maybe some of you can correct me or enlighten me. But regarding the 400+ women and chil...

Hardy Hotel Back in Business

Our guest room gets a "no vacancy" sign for the next few days, and then again next weekend. Tomorrow Brooke & Chris arrive and stay until Wednesday. Then Mom & Dad Hardy arrive on Friday and stay through the following Wednesday--April 9. On April 9 I leave for a long weekend in Seattle. My parents are taking a train trip there, so I will visit with them and Brad, Lisa and Joe at the same time. That is the same week Aaron goes "on tour" with his school music group. They're going to be ministering at a place or two in Indiana. Tom will hold down the fort all by himself. Fudd volunteered to do it, but we saw through that right away. Fudd just wanted to eat all Trixie's canned cat food. He's so sly. Sooo . . . next time I plan to blog is after we pay our taxes. Until then, thanks for checking in on me! WRITING UPDATE: I'm almost getting a routine and rythmn to my life and spend most Thursdays glued to the computer. I force myself to attempt a cha...

Fritzy Week

testing, testing, testing. . . 1,2,3 . . . hellooooo . . . anybody out there? . . . What do you know, I haven't gotten the "error" message--nope, I take that back. Oooh! I got around it. So the "Fritzy Week" title isn't for a new cat (I did NOT get another cat--but Fritz would be a good name if I did), it's for how fritzy it's been trying to blog this week. If only Ohio weren't flooding, life would be pretty quiet and pleasant. I'm enjoying it. Went to a pajama party on Friday night. (No pictures or they'd kill me). Got an invitation for dinner on Saturday. Still reading all three books. Worked at the library a couple days last week. Haven't had a chance yet this week. Tomorrow is a writing day. WRITING UPDATE: I attended my writers group last Thursday and got some good help on the premise for my proposal. I heard from the writer's conference scholarship people, and guess what? I didn't win. But I'm ok with that, I'm e...

Soup's On

Dayton registered a "Blizzard Warning" on Saturday. Level 3 Snow Emergency. In otherwords, it was a great day to stay home and make soup. I made my potato soup, one of our favorites: lots of sauteed onion and celery, chunky potatoes, a hint of garlic, bay leaf, and bouillon. Perfect blizzard comfort. Soup's on in my soul, too. I'm reading three books at once: THROUGH PAINTED DESERTS by Donald Miller. I question his theology and drool over his writing style at the same time. THE RELENTLESS GOD by Cecil Murphey. A peek at the honest questioning of a gracious and sincere Christian man. A SHORT METHOD OF PRAYER & Other Writings by Madame Guyon. A French Catholic who spent time in the Bastille for studying the scripture on her own, teaching people to pray and "smelling like a Protestant," while Mary Ferree was fleeing France for being a prostestant. I wonder if they ever met or knew of each other. It's a very victorian edition, makes me grateful for growi...

Wonderful Husbands Weekend

Image
Yes, wonderful husbands. My sister Anjee's wonderful husband kept the kids while she drove down here to spend the weekend with me and use the gift certificate for manicures and facials at the Spa-La-La which my wonderful husband gave me for Christmas. Spa-La-La--isn't that an awful name? No wonder, I just made it up. The place we went to was very, very nice and relaxing--the real name is "Belazzio's." Classy. Offered us wine and everything--but we preferred the Milky Way Lattes. Come back, Anjee! I miss you already. It's just me and Trixie in this house full of males. Oh, and Anjee, just about everyone at church was sick like I was right before you arrived, so I probably was/am contagious. Sorry. WRITING UPDATE: I put a 40-page book proposal in the mail this week to an editing service. See, I am making progress. Keep praying, and thanks for checking in on me.

Amazing Video!

This is Dad Hardy, at home in Ticonderoga, NY. I know you'll be awed by my special effects! I call this "A Coke & Mentos Moment." It's very special, it'll probably take over the Oscars tonite. WRITING UPDATE: I'm still brushing up the proposal. Hope to get it in the mail by the end of this week, before my sister Anjee comes for our "spa" day. I mailed in my entry for a scholarship to the Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference. Pray that I win! They'll notify winners by end of March. That's all for this week. Thanks for checking in on me.

Trixie Hits the Big Screen!

Image
No photos of Trixie this time, but I must tell you, her little shenanigans last week--hey, I didn't know cats could blog, did you? Anyway, her little posting back-fired on her---or maybe this is what she intended: her pictures were up on the Big Screen at Eagleville Bible Church last week, and she was used as a sermon illustration about what happens when the world makes you look like something you're not. (Personally, I think Pastor Bill was really reaching on that and just wanted to poke fun at Trixie's expense.) Anyway, here's what some of you had to say about it--I don't understand why it sounds like I'm to blame. I tell you, the cat can blog! Patti said... oh am I glad you are not in charge of MY image! Hilarious. Margo said...Sooo funny! Thanks for the laugh. It's going to give me a laugh every time I look at it. What in the world did you do to that cat?! Mom Hardy Mimzie said... I think you are having too much fun with my cat! Ha, Ha. Enjoy her. And ...
